He vows to stop him, stating he will not allow this “sinful knowledge” to take root on his Earth. Brahma identifies the glowing yantra as the source of the problem and decides to destroy it.
Kapali warns Brahma to be cautious, reminding him that his ego might lead him to commit an act for which atonement would be impossible. Vishnu tries to intervene, but it’s too late. In a cataclysmic sequence showing planets colliding and volcanoes erupting, Bhairava brutally rips off Brahma’s fifth head. He stands holding the severed, lifeless head as the now four-headed Brahma looks on in shock and pain.
Bhairava then explains his actions. He tells Brahma that his creation was static and lacked the fundamental principle of change. There was no concept of karma, consequences, life, death, or liberation. To introduce the law of change and give every being the right to a great life based on their actions, it was necessary to sever Brahma’s fifth, arrogant head. He declares that the ashes of this head will be dissolved in the cremation ground, the ultimate place of truth, free from ego and illusion. The head in his hand bursts into flames, and he calmly throws it to the ground. Bhairava then transforms back into a serene, meditating Shiva, surrounded by funeral pyres, signifying the end of an era and the beginning of a new one based on karma and change.
