The episode begins in a hospital ICU. A young girl, Dil, is standing by the bedside of her unconscious mother, Nandini, who is on an oxygen mask. Dil notices the bright sunlight from the window is falling on her mother’s face. She tries to use a hospital file to block the light, showing her deep love and concern. Suddenly, a nurse enters and scolds Dil, telling her that children are not allowed in the ICU and asking if she wants to get her fired. Dil, with tears in her eyes, innocently explains that she was just trying to protect her mother from the sun. The nurse’s heart melts. She gently tells Dil that she is not a bad child and then closes the window blinds for her. The nurse informs Dil that her aunt (Mami) has gone to arrange money for Nandini’s treatment and tells her to go find her. Dil sadly leaves the ICU.

Meanwhile, Dil’s aunt, Lata, is at a house, anxiously talking on the phone. She is worried about Nandini’s critical condition and the large sum of money required for the operation. She tries to call her husband, Sudip, but he doesn’t answer. Lata enters a bedroom, opens a cupboard, and takes out a small bundle of money. Just then, her husband Sudip stumbles into the room, heavily intoxicated, and collapses on the bed.

Lata rushes to him and desperately tells him about Nandini’s serious accident. She explains that the doctor needs 4 lakh rupees for an urgent operation, but they don’t even have 4,000. In a shocking turn, a drunk Sudip casually asks, “Hasn’t she died yet?” Lata is stunned into silence. Sudip then proclaims that he is the Kansa Mama of this era and threatens to kill Nandini (Devki) himself. A horrified Lata tries to stop him, but he overpowers her, locks her in the room, and leaves.

The scene shifts to another household where Raghav and his wife Natasha are having a heated argument. Natasha enters their room without knocking, and Raghav scolds her for the lack of privacy. They argue about their daughter, Shanaya. Natasha wants to make her a rockstar, but Raghav insists that Shanaya has no real talent for singing; it’s just a hobby. He accuses Natasha of forcing her own unfulfilled dreams onto their child. He explains that becoming a true singer requires years of dedicated practice (sadhana) and that pushing her too fast will only lead to her downfall. He tells Natasha that her hatred for him is greater than her love for their daughter. Finally, giving in, Raghav agrees to train Shanaya, but on his own terms, without any interference from Natasha.

Back at the hospital, little Dil is waiting anxiously outside the ICU when she sees her uncle, Sudip, arrive. She runs to him and asks if he brought the money, explaining that the doctor said her mother would be fine with it. Sudip cruelly looks at her and says that neither her aunt nor the money is coming, and he won’t be staying either as he can’t bear to see his sister in such a condition. He tells the little girl that her mother’s fate is now in God’s hands. He then taunts her by singing the lullaby, “Chanda mama se pyara tera mama” (Your uncle is lovelier than the moon), and walks away, leaving Dil completely alone and heartbroken.

Review

This episode was an emotional rollercoaster, packed with intense drama and heart-wrenching moments. The parallel storylines were woven together effectively, contrasting the innocence of a child’s love with the shocking cruelty of an adult. The little girl’s performance as Dil was outstanding; her innocent attempt to shield her mother from the sun was a powerful, tear-jerking scene. The major shock came from Sudip’s character. His transformation from a seemingly irresponsible husband to a villain comparing himself to Kansa was chilling and sets a dark tone for the future. The confrontation between him and Lata was high on drama and emotion. On the other hand, the conflict between Raghav and Natasha provides a different kind of tension, exploring the complexities of ambition, parenting, and a strained marital relationship. The episode did a brilliant job of establishing the stakes for Nandini and Dil, leaving the audience in suspense and fearing for their future.
