Saru explains that this was the day her mother first saw him from afar. Back in the present, they arrive at the hostel. Saru offers to run and get the photo, but Ramnath politely declines, saying he has a meeting and will meet her mother at the upcoming parent-teacher meeting anyway. The scene shifts to the next morning at a grand house. Ved is having tea with his mother, who is trying to convince him to get married by showing him photos of potential brides.
