Saru Written Update, June 23, 2025: Anika’s Cruelty and Ved’s Secret Kindness

The episode opens on a dark, rainy night. Anika’s father is driving Saru and Phulla home. He tells Saru that her words remind him of her mother, Maai, and he would love to meet her someday. Saru, pleased, decides to show him a photo of her mother. As she rummages through her bag, a dramatic score builds, but she can’t find the picture. She disappointedly tells Anika’s father that she must have left it in her books at the hostel.

A flashback reveals a temple scene where Anika’s father, Ramnath, was supposed to give an auspicious saree to Anika, but by a twist of fate, it fell on Saru’s mother, Gauri. Saru explains that this was the day her mother first saw him from afar. Back in the present, they arrive at the hostel. Saru offers to run and get the photo, but Ramnath politely declines, saying he has a meeting and will meet her mother at the upcoming parent-teacher meeting anyway. After Saru and Phulla get out, Phulla remarks how different Anika’s father is from the arrogant Anika.

The scene shifts to the next morning at a grand house. Ved is having tea with his mother, who is trying to convince him to get married by showing him photos of potential brides. Their maid, Rachna, serves them. Ved cleverly avoids the topic. His mother insists, but Ved stands firm, placing a condition: he will only marry after Rachna gets married first. This shocks his mother. Just then, his sister Anika walks in, looking annoyed, and asks for coffee.

Later, Saru and Phulla are happily riding their bicycle to college. Suddenly, Anika’s white SUV appears, driving aggressively behind them. Anika, seething with jealousy, deliberately crashes into Saru’s bicycle, sending the girls and the bike to the ground. She gets out and taunts Saru, calling her a rustic girl and telling her to move her junk. When a student tries to intervene, Saru bravely stands up to him, telling him to back off.

In the classroom, Ved (who is also the teacher) initiates a discussion about what makes a good life partner. Anika, seeking to impress, gives a speech about status, wealth, and being a ‘power couple’. Saru, when asked, gives a heartfelt, contrasting opinion. She explains that for her, a life partner is about a bond of love and respect, someone who helps you face life’s challenges together, much like the balance between a person’s feet and the earth. She gets emotional, remembering how her father left her mother, and runs out of the class in tears.

Ved follows her and finds her crying on the stairs. To cheer her up, he apologizes for the sensitive topic and playfully acts silly, doing squats and making funny faces. His lighthearted antics finally make Saru smile. Phulla arrives and sees the tender moment between them. After Phulla takes Saru away, Ved looks thoughtful. The scene flashes back to Saru’s mother, Gauri, tearfully looking at her old wedding photo, and then to a memory of Saru’s grandfather, whom she called ‘Old Man’, gifting her the very same bicycle Anika just destroyed.

Meanwhile, Anika, furious after seeing Ved with Saru, crushes her juice glass in her hand, her own blood mixing with the juice. She is enraged that Ved is getting close to Saru. The episode ends with a touching scene. Late at night, Ved is in the courtyard, secretly and meticulously repairing Saru’s broken bicycle. He puts the wheels back on, fixes the chain, and even spray-paints it, restoring the beloved gift. As he works, his sister-in-law brings him coffee. He smiles, looking at the now-repaired bicycle, his act of quiet kindness a stark contrast to his sister’s cruelty.
