·

The episode opens at the Annapurana Group of Institutions’ Girls Hostel at night. A happy Saru enters her room, calling for her friend Phulla. Phulla, who is hiding, surprises Saru. She seems very hungry and playfully demands food, telling Saru it’s a sin to tease a hungry person. Instead of food, Saru reveals a special surprise: a beautifully framed photograph of her with her parents. Phulla is touched and compliments how lovely Saru looks. The photo is a gift from a kind man named Ved, who replaced Saru’s old, burnt picture of her parents.

Phulla helps Saru hang the photo on the wall. She praises Ved, saying he is a very good man and that Saru should see herself through his eyes. An emotional Saru looks at the picture and lovingly tells her parents that seeing them every morning will make her days beautiful. She sees this as a new, hopeful beginning.

The next day, we see Saru and Phulla in the chemistry lab at their new college. They are dressed in lab coats, and Phulla is fascinated by the colorful chemicals, nostalgically comparing them to the syrups used for ice golas back in their village. Saru finds her friend’s comparison amusing. Worried about an upcoming exam, Phulla asks a fellow student, Shambhu, for help. Shambhu kindly agrees to teach them and Saru listens intently as he explains the basics of handling a test tube and other equipment. He cautions them to add the chemical solution to water slowly to avoid an explosion. Saru quickly grasps the important safety instruction. However, another student watches them from afar with a look of disdain, thinking of them as uneducated villagers, hinting at future trouble for Saru in college.

The story then shifts to a grand mansion, Annapurna Sadan. A doctor is checking on the family patriarch, who is in a wheelchair. The matriarch tells the doctor that her husband’s condition is improving and his wounds are finally healing. The doctor is surprised by the rapid progress and asks if they’ve used a special ointment. The matriarch confirms that a girl from a village has been providing them with a special oil, which is working wonders. The implication is strong that this helpful girl is Saru.

In a contrasting scene, we see the matriarch giving advice to a young woman, Rachna, about not tolerating anyone who disrespects her. This is juxtaposed with Saru telling Phulla that they shouldn’t stoop to the level of the arrogant rich people, establishing a clear moral difference between the two worlds.

The episode ends with a dramatic flash-forward. A stylish, modern-looking woman stands defiantly as she sets a red Audi on fire. The matriarch and another woman look on in absolute shock and horror. The woman walks away from the burning car with a vengeful look, leaving viewers to wonder who she is and what has led to such a destructive act.

Review

This episode does an excellent job of setting up multiple intriguing plotlines. It masterfully contrasts Saru’s simple, hopeful new life at college with the complex and dramatic world of a wealthy family. The writers have skillfully woven in elements of romance, family drama, and suspense. Saru is established as a kind-hearted and intelligent protagonist, while Phulla provides a touch of light-hearted comedy. The introduction of a potential antagonist in the college lab and the mysterious conflict within the wealthy family creates a solid foundation for future drama. The highlight, however, is the shocking flash-forward of the car on fire. This scene is a brilliant hook, leaving the audience with numerous questions and eagerly anticipating the next episode. Who is the woman setting the car on fire, and what is her connection to the other characters? The episode successfully builds suspense and promises a rollercoaster of emotions ahead.
